Greetings from Portland

This postcard's from my brief, but amazing stay in Portland, Maine.  While I've told people I've visited the adorable little city, it became more and more clear to me as I spent my day walking the streets with the BF that I had not in fact been to Portland before, but Portsmouth, New Hampshire.  My B.  To all those who I told I had been to Portland, I'm sorry, I just discovered the truth as well.

A Side of Homefries, Please

This is yet again another continution of my long labor day weekend. While still in Newton as this point, Joel and I set out to find a breakfast place while simultaneously checking out a few surrounding towns.  Our mutual love for food and all things greasy makes us an easy pair to please.  After a simple google search we set out for Sorella's in Jamaica Plain.  I'm pretty sure they have the largest array of omlette selections I've seen at one restaurant, and yet, neither Joel or I got one. 

Unexpectedness

This weekend was filled with a smorgasbord of activites.  I went home Sunday afternoon only to find out that one of my very best friends from college was in my neck of the woods.  The BF(who'll I'll call Joel since that's his name) and I met up with my friend at a local fair.  It was as fun and frightening as I remembered them to be.  I love fair food and fair sounds, but hate fair crowds and this fair was no exception to the masses of people, 50% of whom were under the age of 15(I know, I'm about at cool as Amy Poehler in Mean Girls, so pretty awesome if you know what I'm sayin').  Despite the clusters of people covering most of the fair grounds it was still a fun time and I love any opportunity to see a great friend!

Weekend Update: Boston, Beers, and Backyard Brunches

This was the perfect wind down summer weekend.  On Saturday my family and BF came to visit Newton(my temporary residence for a few weeks, thank you, sister).  While my dad, sister, brother-in-law, and BF attended a Red Sox game, my mom and I participated in a sport I'm slightly more familiar with, shopping.  It was the perfect sunny day filled with fun purchases(including a $30 Lilly skirt from a second hand store, score), fun drinks with my mom, and an absolutely delicious dinner at Citizen Public House with the whole crew.  

Oh, the only catch, I took not one picture while out and about because I forgot my camera at home.  

One point-innocent bystanders.  Zero points-Me.

But lucky for you, we had a tasty brunch in my sister and brother-in-law's pretty backyard.

Party of One

I've been temping this past week in Newton and will be for the next few weeks and the office just happens to be near this adorbale little place.  It's advertised as a "park" which is a total euphemization for grassed area with red picnic tables and some trees, but nice trees at that.  It's only a 2 minute drive from the office and allows me to get back to my nature roots.  Wait, nature roots?  Ha, I'm no girl scout but I love me some fresh air.

Epilogue: Farewells For Now

In light of Kerry's departure tomorrow, her family hosted a lovely little farewell gathering.  With summer's end steadily approaching it was a delightful way to celebrate our last few days all together.  Eat your heart out Martha Stewart Living, this party was fitted with all the bells and whistles.  I loved this summer so much and will miss all the nights we spent watching episodes of Glee(Project),  the lazy pool days, and all the nights filled with uncontrollable laughter.  I know, our lives are fascinating, but give us a break, our town's population is under 10,000.

I know, you get it.  I love Martha's Vineyard.  And yes, you're right, I do.  So, in honor of my undying love for that island I am dedicating yet another post to it.  Here's a few miscellaneous photos from vacation I couldn't find a spot for anywhere else.  Please don't hate on this "random" post.  I hate as much as you do when people stretch their creative boundaries by titling a Facebook album, "Random."

Lazy Days

Much to my friends chagrin, I'm constantly toting around my extra large camera(well extra large compared to what people are used to seeing these days).  I plead with them just so I can capture some photos of them.  What's that saying, taking pictures of your friends and posting them on your blog is the sincerest form of flattery.  Right?  Well, I might've gotten a few words mixed up, but just the same.  Enjoy friends, many more  shoots to come!
